Heritage Days on the Goshen Trail will be Saturday and Sunday, September 24-25, 2011 on the grounds of Lewis & Clark College in Godfrey, Illinois. This annual event runs from 9:00 until 5:00 both days, rain or shine. Admission is $5 for adults, $2 for children (5-12), Free (under 5).

The Heritage Days Living History Festival features events from the time period 1700-1840, including opening and closing flag ceremonies, folk dancers and singers, fifes and drums, dulcimer players, a storyteller, folk musicians, children's activities, and hands-on quilting.

This year's event will feature many Traditional Artisans. Participants include makers of baskets, candles, bows and arrows, dulcimers, canoe paddles, walking sticks, soap, gourd crafts, brooms, needle art, string dolls. There will be flintknappers, weavers, ropemakers, tanners, and wood carvers. A wide variety of Foods from the Past will be available. All are prepared in the traditional manner - over open fires, from authenticated recipes of the period. Among these foods will be roasted corn, sauerkraut, buffalo burgers, root beer, ice cream, biscuits and gravy, Indian fry bread, pork skins, turkey legs, chicken and dumplings, Ham Sandwiches, Green Beans & Potatoes, French onion soup, kettle potato chips.

A large Primitive Encampment is expected. Visitors can walk alongside the teepees and tents, talk with period traders, and purchase items offered for sale from traders and primitive stores. There will be a black powder rifles on display, as well as a cannon and mortar fire demonstration.
